The late business visionary Peter Drucker once stated, "Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth." Which simply means that innovation is the life-blood of successful companies. So during the PDx/amerimold event—being held Tuesday, May 11 through Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio—a specific area will be dedicated to the Art and Science of Innovation.
Clearly, as the economy begins to recover, those companies that are the most innovative will become the ones best-able to prosper. A goal of PDx/amerimold is to help companies become more innovative through exhibits of advanced technology; technical learning sessions; presentations from leading designers, engineers, and executives; and the Innovation Center.
The PDx/amerimold Innovation Center will house representatives and properties from three leading organisations within 3,000-square feet on the show floor.
They are:
- GE Aviation. This world-wide leader in the design and manufacture of aircraft engines will feature its GE90 engine fan blade, the only composite fan blade in commercial aviation history. It will also have other products that it produces on display, as well as videos showing advanced processes including laser shock peening.
- University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. Students from this world-renowned institution will demonstrate how they conceive, design, develop, and prototype products including automobiles and other consumer products. The college's Rapid Prototyping Center—where 3D printing is routinely used to create models from math data—will be discussed by students and instructors.
- Eurkea! Ranch. Not only is the Eureka! Ranch an outfit that jump starts imaginative thinking through its training, seminars, and events, but is working to connect developers of innovative products and services with companies and customers through the USA National Innovation Marketplace.
The objective of the Innovation Center is to provide the attendees of PDx/amerimold with first-hand contact with innovative thinkers and doers who can help make them more competitive through imaginative approaches from concept through production.
As Eureka! Ranch founder Doug Hall puts it, "Now more than ever, our mantra holds true: 'If you're not MEANINGFULLY unique, you better be cheap.' We have the highest hopes that PDx/amerimold can help us get more companies growing profitably through Innovation."
About PDx/amerimold: PDx/amerimold is the only event in North America that encompasses the entire product design and development cycle, including tooling and mold manufacturing. The inaugural, annual event is organised by Gardner Publications, Inc., Cincinnati, and DEMAT GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany.
